Wednesday Wisdom | Kind People Are My Kinda People

My fabulous baby sister rocking one of my favorite dresses at her birthday party.

Happy Wednesday, loves! This post will be very short + very sweet. A little over a week ago, my sister + favorite person in the entire world was home for her birthday. She turned 25 (what?!) + I could not be prouder of the woman she’s become. She’s much like me in many ways, most especially being generous to a fault. But she’s also so much better than me. She was always the brave one, going + chasing her dreams no matter what the cost. We all have a lot we could stand to learn from Colleen + I am so lucky we each got only one sister so we don’t have to share.

Now that I’ve tooted her horn enough, I also wanted to toot the horns of a couple incredible individuals, best friends of mine from high school + college who went out of their way to help me throw a birthday party for her. My sister’s been dealing with a lot the last three months or so that she’d prefer I don’t share in such a public forum until the situation is handled, so I won’t. Suffice it to say it’s been a rough few months for her so I wanted to do something special for her. These four ladies made it a point to make a part of her birthday celebration as a favor to me but also because they love her, too.

Ellen + her fiance Nyre drove down from Madison, WI, just to celebrate with us.
Tory + her husband Christian don’t often venture downtown but made the trip anyway.
Anne raced from a work event to celebrate Colleen.
Ashley didn’t make the formal party due to a Taylor Swift hangover, but she happily welcomed Colleen into our concert plans + we even gave Colleen the closest seat.

I talk a lot about the importance of the people you surround yourself with + this is no exception. Surround yourself with people who would happily join your younger sister to celebrate her 25th birthday.
