Taylor Swift is a Genius.
I’ve been a Swiftie for more than 10 years. My earliest memories of Taylor’s music involve me dancing around my room (when the night ends… sorry “Fifteen” lyrics) blasting her music from my iHome. I knew she’s be huge + she is. I kept telling everyone she’s brilliant + not enough people believed me. Hopefully that’s all going to change.
If you’ve been living under a rock, I’ll start from the beginning. Taylor + her PR team wiped her Twitter + Instagram accounts last Friday. I’ll be honest. I didn’t notice until Tuesday when the second of her three portions of a coiled snake video was released on her Instagram. I wasn’t sure what it was so I went to her profile. She has no profile picture + is following no one. Immediately I texted my friend Ashley to ask if she’d seen this. This was huge! I could feel the rumblings before Hurricane Taylor landed + shook our whole world up. Ashley had not seen Taylor’s Instagram but had seen her Twitter. This had to be new music. It’s been almost three years since 1989 debuted and I’m on my third copy. One I lost, one got stuck in my old car’s CD player + wouldn’t eject so obviously I had to get one again when I got my new car last summer. I’m not going to lie, I was slightly concerned she’d gotten a face tattoo + that’s why she’d removed her profile picture.
Yesterday morning she tweeted the front of her coiled snake. By this point I started to see my feeds buzzing about this snake. My favorite reaction was a tweet from The Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise’s Wells Adams: We get @taylorswift13, you like snakes. Ashley + I could have been wrong, but we weren’t. Soon after, three more images appeared on her feed. The first telling us “FIRST SINGLE OUT TOMORROW NIGHT.” The second, her album cover. The third, “reputation THE NEW ALBUM FROM TAYLOR SWIFT NOVEMBER 10.” I’d been watching my girl Ashley I‘s(from The Bachelor/Bachelor in Paradise. You’ll learn soon she is legitimately my favorite celebrity) Instagram story as she + her friend witnessed Taylor’s Instagram reveal. I promptly closed her story + went to Taylor’s feed + could have cried the happiest tears.
The social spheres are abuzz + we’re losing our minds, Tay! You + your team are genius. This is how you create album buzz. This is how you reinvent yourself + reinvent herself she is! Is anyone else getting a Good Charlotte circa early 2000s vibe from this album cover. It definitely took some time to sink in for me like her short hair + bangs. But we know she writes or co-writes all of her music so it’s going to be raw + real as always. I’m praying for some breakup anthems which we’ve come to expect from Tay, but maybe just like with this album cover she’s leaving her niche. I don’t know but I. Am. So. Here. I see you Taylor + I will be online tonight at 12:01 AM to hear this new single! My hopes are high + I know she’s crushed it!
