Wednesday Wisdom | Do What Makes Your Soul Happy
Dearest Friends + Followers! I’m so sorry I’ve been on hiatus the last two months! Life’s been crazy + I’ve been traveling a lot. I also was ghosted by the man I thought I was going to marry after almost two years. You can laugh, it’s hysterical! I just wanted to do a quick photo update on what I’ve been up to while chasing my bliss! I’m in one of the best places I’ve ever been mentally + my soul has never felt so settled.
NYC
St. Patrick’s Day weekend I spent in NYC with my BFF Nina. You might remember her from this fitness post. She’s currently studying for her Master’s at Columbia University in NYC so it was so great to go visit her! We had the best four days! We flew to NYC together, had breakfast at Tiffany’s, had dinner at Catch NYC, saw a taping of the view, ate rainbow bagels, went out for St. Patrick’s Day, met up with a friend I met when I studied in Italy, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, saw Carrie Bradshaw’s brownstone, stopped outside Kleinfeld + took photos in front of all of the key Gossip Girl spots. No celebrity sightings except the fabulous ladies at The View. By the time the trip was over, I’d walked almost 40 miles. Just enough to cover the calories of my unicorn bagel + greasy NY pizza.
PAULY D
Pauly D was spinning in Chicago the night before I had to catch a flight but I couldn’t not go because it’s Pauly D. I fought through a migraine + almost got in a fight with a guy for pushing Ashley. No one pushes my friends. But can we talk about how Pauly looks EXACTLY the same as he did on episode one of the Jersey Shore? I tweeted him asking what moisturizer he uses because I want to look as good as I do 10 years from now. He retweeted me + my tweet got 580+ likes. I’m famous, y’all.
LA
My friend, her friend + I booked a trip to LA for *NSYNC’s star ceremony. We were told it was going to be March 24th. After booking the trip, we found out we’d been punk’d + that the ceremony was scheduled for April 30th, “It’s gonna be May” day. But we’d already booked the trip so we went! We had brunch at The Ivy in Beverly Hills, dinner at Catch, hiked the Hollywood Sign, ate In-n-Out right after + I got to spend some time with some of my favorite women on the planet, one who made me who I am today, the others three of my favorite celebrities.
SAYING GOODBYE
Last month, an old friend, Rachel Ann, landed her dream job back at home in Connecticut. While we hadn’t been close in a while, I knew how much blood, sweat + tears she put in to her internship that lead up to this opportunity + couldn’t have been more proud of her. My old friends thought enough of our friendship + invited me to celebrate her time here + send her off properly. I’m glad I decided to take the opportunity to hug her one last time + say goodbye.
FLORIDA
April was a crazy month. My sister called me at my desk one Monday morning crying because of some things she’s going through. By the next afternoon, I was on a plane to Orlando to spend some sister time with her + take care of some of the results of the problem. My cousin + his sweet girlfriend happened to be in town at the same time so we got to spend some time with them, too.
LA (again)
Going back to LA for *NSYNC’s star ceremony was not in the budget, but my mom made it happen. If you ask her, the Easter Bunny made it happen, but I got there nonetheless. I went with my friend Erica again, another of her friends + my work friend + her husband met up with us in line. We made lots of friends in line. we danced to Bye Bye Bye on NBC (though I was likely out of the shot) + we got into the front corral. I got a great view of Ellen’s, Carson Daly’s, Lance’s + Justin’s backs, but Justin turned around a lot. Ashley was covering the event for Access + after the ceremony, I made my way over to say hello + she recognized me immediately. Like me, she’s a huge *NSYNC fan + covering the event was a dream come true for her. We also waited in line six + a half hours for #TheDirtyPopUp shop which was totally worth it. I also hiked the Hollywood sign by myself this time in the rain + made it up + back in less than an hour + a half. I’m so impressed with myself! We grabbed In-n-Out as our last stop before hitting the airport + my dream of a weekend came to a close.
FLORIDA (again)
May brought my dad to Orlando for a conference + he flew mom + I out for Mother’s Day weekend so we could all spend it together. I had more custom shirts made by Stephanie at Big Frog + we looked awesome! Sadly I forgot to get a group photo of our epic day one shirts, but I did grab a cast member from Norway at Epcot to snap one of us on Sunday. We treated mom to three delicious meals + spent time riding rides + sharing laughs.
And so there it is, the highlights of my last two months. But there’s so much more to come. Wednesday Wisdom is back in full swing + the next two weeks are already prewritten. The summer is coming which means I’ll be spending as much time on rooftops + at beaches as I can so I’ll be sharing some cute looks for brunches + happy hours; the contents of my beach bag; essentials on my summer reading list; tips on how to look effortless at the beach + travel guides for NOLA, NYC + LA. I also have some fun summer recipes, easy workouts, Bachelorette + Bachelor in Paradise recaps + I’ll be wrapping up the summer with a post about my mission trip to Honduras with Humanity & Hope United at the end of August/over my birthday. I hope you’re ready because I am!
xo.
