The Bachelor | Love Under the Tuscan Sun
[SPOILERS] “Tonight on The Bachelor…” Chellie is cranky af because the women are in Tuscany + her heart misses it. Chris Harrison announces to the women in Pisa (though Arie’s in Florence + it might be killing me… oh no, I’m just sick) that there will be three one-on-one dates and a group date with roses available on each so there will be no rose ceremony. Way to change the pressure game Chris! Need a quick reminder as to who’s still around? After Paris, we’re still cheering for:

The women are staying at the Renaissance Italy Il Ciocco Resort which is great + all but I’ll take my crummy old Florentine apartment with the tiny window + skylight a block off the Arno, please + thank you. My girl Becca K. gets our first one on one date “Let’s fall in love under the Tuscan sun…” Okay. Someone has it out for me on this date. This is not fair. But B. looks so cute + excited for this date I can’t even be mad for long. Arie zips up the hill in a red convertible (the same one that died on Jacqueline’s date?) to scoop Becca in her cream-with-leaf-print off-the-shoulder maxi romper. A quick “andiamo” + away we go. There aren’t really plans for this date, they’re just wandering Barga picking up food for a picnic + they find the most romantic spot under some trees for this perfect picnic. She assures him that while last week was tough for her + she was in her head, she is still so into him.
Back at the resort, Jacqueline is having so many doubts over whether this relationship is feasible + doubts that she can bring him home feeling like this. But she’s talking to counselor Kendall who wonders if she wants to stay + feel it out. Jacqueline says she’s 99% sure she can see something with him but she’s watching everyone else so confident. Kendall encourages her that if she feels this unsure, she should talk to Arie.
Back on Becca + Arie’s date, it’s “dinner time,” + we can’t believe hometowns are next week. He wants to know who he’d meet. He’d meet her mom + her mom’s boyfriend + not quite overbearing Uncle Gary. Arie would be the first person who met the whole family at once unlike her last boyfriend who met everyone sporadically. She shares she’s not nervous because she has feelings for Arie + is falling in love with him. She sees a future which leads to more kissing. Arie’s happy because he didn’t know she felt that deeply. They really needed today to see if there is passion between them + he’s hopeful for them. He tells her he’s falling for her + can’t wait to meet her family so he offers her the rose. AAAAAnd more Tuscan kissing. And even more in an alley. It looks like she’s holding her Louboutons + I’m stressing that she wore them on the cobblestoned streets. That’s how you damage them!
Lauren is getting the next one-on-one “Let’s break down our walls.” Bekah isn’t happy + I don’t blame her because Lauren just had a one -on-one. Jacqueline isn’t happy either + my heart breaks for her. So she walks to his room to talk to him. Arie laughs nervously as he clearly didn’t expect her to knock on his door. She’s shaking + needs to steel his wine. She tells him she’s not confident enough in her feelings to take him home. He wants to know what brought this on. She says there was a moment of doubt on her date that she ignored + she doesn’t want to wake up married one day in Scottsdale + not know what happened. “I don’t know how to stay.” He’s glad she came to talk to him. So then they make out. She says she needs to be more confident than she is but he really likes her. Arie thinks their connection was strong enough to see their fears though. But Jacqueline comes back to the room + tells the other women she’s leaving + mom + I are like “wait..what?” It didn’t necessarily feel like she fully said goodbye. But Arie acknowledges her bravery.
Lauren meets Arie in a flowy white off the shoulder top, olive green destroyed jeans + white sneakers. They’re riding bikes + I’m even sadder because I couldn’t be on this date because, as I shared in the Ft. Lauderdale recap, I can’t ride a bike. They grab gelato then climb to a rooftop that overlooks Lucca. They eat pizza + talk about how she feels about introducing him to her family. This will be the first man she introduces them to since her fiance. They’re interrupted by some kids playing soccer + they join the kids’ game in the middle of the piazza. Too cute. Arie really needs to know where her head + heart are so he knows if he can give her the rose. Back at the resort, Seinne is getting the last one-on-one.
Lauren + Arie walk into a large open stone building for dinner. Arie isn’t ready to say goodbye but he needs to understand her more. He wants to know if she’s ready for him to come home. She keeps telling him how scared + emotionally disconnected she is but every time she’s with him, she’s starting to fall in love with him. Arie walks off for a second + it’s scaring me as much as it must be scaring Lauren. He wanted her to open up, she does + he walks off. What kind of bs is that, Arie. Lauren shares that she sensed he was feeling off. Arie shares he’s so nervous + that he’s feeling things he hasn’t felt in a long time. He really sees something + he’s falling deeply in love with her + offers the rose. I guess I don’t get why he needed to walk off. I don’t get when men shut down when they feel emotions. Guys, please explain this to me!!! Arie + Lauren wander off to explore the grounds around the building they had “dinner” in so they can make out against trees…
Now it’s Seinne’s turn. I have her going home this episode which makes me sad because I love her, I just don’t think Arie’s right for her. Seinne is rocking a white open front blouse, leather jacket, black destroyed plants + flat Adidas sneakers. They meet with a truffle hunter + his two dogs. I’m thinking there will be some cooking on this date… The truffle guy invites Seinne + Arie for lunch where they make pasta together + eat with his family. There are heart shaped pizzas + everything. Too cute! They enjoy their fresh truffles shaved over their pasta. How perfect. Arie wants to give her the rose but he isn’t ready yet.
They meet for dinner at an outdoor cafe after some shots of Florence, though where they are sitting doesn’t look like anywhere I ever found in my time there. They talk about the passion + love they witnessed today + talk about how Seinne feels about hometowns. This is the first time Seinne feels like she could bring someone home. Arie wants to know how a life for them would work because they’re so different but Seinne is open to the conversation about it.
At the resort, we find out that Bekah M., Tia + Kendall will be going on the “Meet me at Villa Royale” group date. But it’s still Seinne’s turn. Seinne isn’t ready to go home but Arie isn’t feeling it. He did the face check out thing he does. Arie says he doesn’t feel things he should be feeling at this point so he can’t give her the rose. Seinne is so beautifully strong. I wish I could leave a breakup so dignified. I’d be ugly crying everywhere. Seinne shares that she’d hoped he could have shared his insecurities with her beforehand. Production grabs Seinne’s suitcase + everyone is shocked.
It’s group date time! Lauren’s rocking a black, long sleeved crop top + high wasted floral skirt. Bekah is looking her traditonal hippie chic in a blue off the shoulder top tucked into a denim midi skirt. Tia’s outfit is my favorite, a purple long sleeved v-neck floral blouse + dark skinny jeans. They excitedly walk up to meet Arie at the Villa. I think I’d feel least comfortable on this date. The whole three women + a guy is not my jam. I think this is slightly worse than the two-on-one because Arie has two arms. With an arm for Bekah + an arm for Kendall, there’s no arm for Tia. That’d be me, the one who’s just there, even though I don’t think that about Tia at all. Kendall’s the first to get time with Arie + like every other woman he’s asked, he wants to know what a hometown date with her would look like. She says her family will want to know how they’ll build a relationship. Kendall is open to moving which is definitely big to Arie.
Tia isn’t comfortable with Bekah’s immaturity + wants to let Arie know. She doesn’t want Arie to get hurt because she doesn’t have the experience. He tells her not to worry. She’s excited to have him meet her family + there are no doubts for her. Tia tells Bekah that she did mention these things to Arie + of course she cries. I can’t fault her, I would, too. Arie’s so kind + reassuring to her. He asks her about what it’d be like to go to her hometown. She says they’d be suspicious of timing but they wouldn’t have an issue with the age difference. It’s rose time + I’m nervous. Kendall gets the first three-on-one rose + he sends her home to get ready for him to come visit.
At dinner, Tia gets time with Arie first. She shares that she’s still falling + cares an awful lot about his heart. He says he can picture her family + she really wants that. When it’s Bekah’s turn + Arie’s facially disconnected again. Eventually they kiss + I’m just here like “there are three minutes left! Who is getting this rose?” “This is the hardest rose” Arie’s had to give out. Arie gives Tia the rose + walks Bekah out. “It’s going to end well for you. I know it is.” Seriously all the high fives to the women who hold their tears until they’re in the car afterward. Like I need to channel this next time an insignificant man makes me cry. My heart hurts for both of them because the chemistry was there but was it realistic after this ends?
So my final four is in tact. We’ll be visiting Becca, Lauren, Kendall + Tia’s hometowns + being interrogated by parents. I find this episode so satisfying. Until Bachelor Winter Games tomorrow…
