Style Diaries | For the Love of Purple, Chapter One
I told you a few weeks ago that I’d be donning lots of purple this fall. Something about this color, this season, the feelings I’m feeling + the way my life is unfolding, it just feels right. Something about the regalness + it’s ability to stand alone, the way I feel I’ve been doing for the last month or so. After nabbing a few purple dresses at francesca’s, I knew that this was the color I’m going to run with this season. As I move forward from friends + sticky situations with other people in my life, I”ll be moving “on to better things” (thanks, Drake) with my head held high channeling all this color means for me. On Labor Day, Mom + I went outlet shopping, one of my favorite things. We spent the most time at Banana Republic. The joy of it being Labor Day at an outlet mall is that despite the lines, the sales are great! Plus I qualified for style cash. I grabbed two dresses, a blouse + a pair of skinny dress pants, all variations of purple, of course. I’ve only worn the pants so far, but as of today I’ve worn all three of my purple dresses from francesca’s. So let’s talk about purple!
I won’t tell you much about the first purple dress, there’s already a whole post about it. But to summarize, it’s my favorite cut of dress. It’s super flattering + I feel really confident.
Can we just love these pants for a minute! I’m down another size + I feel great. I paired them with a long sleeved white ruched top from Saved by the Dress. I paired them with a pair of flat pewter sandals I don’t often as they have no support. At 27, I need arch support + I don’t mess around with that. But thankfully if I’m just at work, I don’t have to worry that much about my feet hurting. But I wore these once at Disney + definitely regretted it. But when I’m not doing an awful lot of walking, these sandals are super cute + great for completing outfits. Jewelry: Target + Tiffany. Watch: Michael Kors. Sandals: Target. I love these pants in “Beet Root” so much that I also ordered them in “Nordic Blue” as well.
I am OBSESSED with this chevron lace high necked dress from francesca’s. I first saw it when my friend Tory sent it to me as a potential option for a wedding she attended this summer. I thought it was very unique + suggested she wear that but she ended up going with another equally-stunning-on-her option. When I started my quest for the perfect purple pieces, I knew this would be on the list. Friday night, Ashley + I had a bff date at an event at the Museum of Science + Industry in Chicago. We had a few drinks + a few more laughs enjoying a performance by Second City + wandering some of our favorite exhibits. One of my favorites is Yesterday’s Main Street so I asked Ashley to snap a couple shots of me goofing off here. Jacket: Target. Jewelry: Target + Tiffany. Watch: Michael Kors. Bag: Michael Kors. Shoes: Target.
Let’s talk about this gorgeous deep plum dress from francesca’s. Cut the same as the other two, this one also offers a pretty ruffle up top that I thought was connected to a cold shoulder silhouette. Surprise, it’s not! Which is just fine either way because I’m trying to figure out howto wear my cold shoulder pieces with cardigans for winter without my shoulders looking bulky. I’ll report back when I know more. But for now, I’m wearing this breezy plum dress + am already coming up with other ways to wear it. I’m currently on a quest for new leather jackets as mine have become too large + too old for me, but this dress with pop against either brown or black with matching boots. maybe tights… the possibilities are endless. Cardigan: Express. Jewelry: Target + Kate Spade. Watch (under cardigan): Michael Kors. Sunglasses: Michael Kors. Shoes: Steve Madden.
Be on the lookout for more chapters of my purple posts! With two dresses, a blouse, a vest + a whole season in front of me, there’s definitely more purple love to come!
